Day 10 - Manchester

Jetlag was wearing off, so I woke up at 7am, which wasn't too bad already actually. Because the 2 other bums were still sleeping, I went online to keep myself busy so I wouldn't feel hungry. Obviously, it didn't work. Vanessa & See Ki woke up at around 9am if I'm not mistaken. Only then I could go down with them to prepare breakfast. I can still remember how my stomach was growling! Hehehe.

Mummy preparing breakfast!
(Notice I used Mummy and not Mommy)

Bacon with eggs.

Scrambled Eggs.

Our breakfast table. Nice.

We had to rush out, since See Ki & I were running late to meet Sharada and poor Vanessa was late for class! Nevertheless, I still had time to capture a lovely picture of Vanessa's cozy home!

Wuahhh.

Train ride was about 35-40 mins, and we were finally at Manchester City.=D

Upon arrival.
We met up with Sharrada at Primark, it's been AGES since we last met with Sharadda. We then soon headed to..

..Wetherspoon! For late lunch. Pub food =)

See Ki's fish and chips!

My carbonara pasta, which was OKAY at best. The garlic bread was like a rock.

Thank you so much Sharrada, for taking the day off to bring us around Manchester! Really appreciate it =) and realising my dream of visiting.....

OLD TRAFFORD!

Only managed to go for the museum tour =( The pitch tour was fully booked till Sunday, and it was a Friday. Have a feeling it was due to the game against Everton the next day. Nevertheless, I was still happy! =D The museum:

The legacy of Ryan Giggs

The trophy cabinet

Badges?

And to my surprise, I found this, all the way in Old Trafford, Manchester!

Wallpaper of Man Utd's Asia tour to Malaysia.

Malaysia Boleh, lol.

Munich air disaster monument.

Player of the year for Man Utd trophy.
2008: Nemanja Vidic
2009: Cristiano Ronaldo

Alex Ferguson + See Ki

Alex Ferguson & I

Hall of Fame. More like Hall of signings for each year.

See Ki took 20 minutes to find her love on the wall.

The 3 of us in the Megastore.
Sharrada, See Ki & I.

The Megastore! Ahh, heaven. I can live in the store forever.

See Ki & Sharrada outside the stadium

Me & Sharrada outside the stadium. Thanks again!

The United Trinity statue.
The trinity: Best, Law, Charlton

Rushed back to Preston to re-unite with Vanessa! She came to the train station to meet us, and we headed to somewhere I can't remember to grocery-shop! We planned to cook at home, taste nicer(or not) and save on the pounds =D

Both of them in the grocery store.

Took an awesome shot of Vanessa's church's signboard on our way home. Even the trees in the UK looks better, though not necessarily greener.

St. Gregory. Click to enlarge.

We got home, and..... prepared dinner! Lol. Everyone contributed. We divided and conquered, exactly like how we divide and conquer in PBLs in IMU. (pretty positive no IMU lecturer reads my blog)

Okay, maybe not everyone contributed. (jokes). She did this:

Chopping the veges (eew) and mushrooms!

Our pasta end product. Looks nicer than it taste. I mean, tastes nicer than it looks! =D

Our fried rice with chopped egg! Served in the wok to lessen the dish washing later on.

And last but not least, our dinner table:

Ta daa!
(That Oasis citrus drink really isn't bad at all)

P.S. After looking at my chatbox, Jonathan Wong did not meet us when we were in Preston. B*st*rd! Get a Bus Pass!

Day 9 - Edinburgh

Woke up at 7am, which was pretty good, since on usual nights some drunkards would set off the fire alarm and u'd need to evacuate your room in your pyjamas in the middle of the night. All there was was some of them singing out loud and making a ruckus outsde the window only. Anyway, breakfast started with cheap but awesome breakfast, courtesy of Marcus' pork floss and bread!

Yum, floss aren't cheap you know.

Where all the action takes place. The common kitchen.

Went to the gym this morning at about 8am. Was supposed to meet Keng & Nicholas there, but guess they overslept, lol! So we met them at Mary King's at 10.30am instead. Btw, University of Edinburgh's gym was awesome! They have 1 floor for cardio machines, another huge section for the weight machines, and another whole floor for free weights. Had to pay 5 pounds since I was a visitor to use though.

Random pictures while walking to the place.

Mary King's Close.

As Vanessa puts it, "trying to be artistic".

Different ball, lol!

Tour was pretty awesome. It was just about the basic history of Edinburgh, pretty interesting. Google the story up if you want to know, too lazy to type it all out here =P and also cause I don't wanna be fabricating some of the stuffs I forgot. Anyway, Marcus had to go off to a mandatory class for a while, so we went to Chocolate Soup for a quick snack with Nicholas & Keng.

Nicholas' meatball soup.

My forgot-what-sandwich and potato soup. Meatball cheese sandwich I think?

See Ki & Nicholas.

Us, in the restaurant, bidding our final farewell since Nicholas had to go for classes too. Keng was kind enough to send us off at the train station =)

Headed back to Marcus' place after he found us stranded homeless in the cold rain wandering around the streets of Edinburgh after his class, lol! It was 3pm then, and our train was 6pm, so we headed back to do our final packing and relax? I'm telling you, everyone gets hungry every 2 hours because your body is working at such a high metabolic rate in that kinda temperature! So ended up eating instead =D eating something I never did eat since I reached the UK.

Master at work.

Marcus' chao dar muffins!

My awesome Indomee =D

Again, thank you so so much Marcus and Keng Seng, for labouring under the rain with our luggages all the way to the train station and waiting for the train to come before you guys left. I know you guys had work to do but still spent the time, thanks loads!

Awesome train, better than AirAsia, they have a table and a plug and Wifi!
and 3-4 hours laterrrr......

Preston! (Somewhere pretty damn near Manchester)

Vanessa called us a cab from the train station to her place, which is 10 mins away =) Taxi driver was so worried I broke his boot because I was slamming it against my huge ass luggage which could barely fit into his small ass taxi boot. And when we're finally there...

Vanessa's room! So cozy and blue. See Ki & Vanessa unpacking

Vanessa's super cozy and comfy bed in which she would be sleeping on with See Ki.

My bed, LOL. Yes, the center of the picture XD
Which was considerately converted(using See Ki's sleeping bag and Vanessa's comforter) into....

..something more comfortable? ahahah it was cool =)

We were very hungry by then, so Vanessa went down and fixed us some food..! I know all the pictures may make it look like we're always eating, but its the weather I tell you! It's a good thing we get to burn it all off by walking around town exploring. What did she prepare us? Hahah what else?

Maggi with sausages!
and, what is a meal without.......

Indomee! =D (+sausages)

Day 8 - Edinburgh

Today, I woke up in Edinburgh, Scotland, to the sound of drunkards singing out loud downstairs at 5.30am. No offence, but english people here are obsolutely obnoxious even when they aren't drunk. Try walking on the streets or sitting on a train with them. Anyway, we were up early, Nicholas and Keng Seng went to the gym, so Marcus brought me around town while waiting for them.

Forgot what building was this

The whole of Edinburgh had buildings with castle-like architecture.

Me & Marcus. He says the tower behind is the two towers from LOTR.

National Gallery of Scotland.

The grass is so green and nice.

Headed to Mussel Inc after that to meet up with Nicholas, Keng & See Ki for lunch. Mussels again? Not as bad as having ribs again at this point of time. but yeah, the food was good =)

Mussel Inc.

Awesome seafood platter

Forgot the flavors of mussels we order. but it was nice.

The table.
L: Nicholas, See Ki
M: Keng Seng
R: Marcus, Me

Random pictures taken when we came out of the store:

Will explain this picture when I get a certain picture first. They were FB-ing, posting a shoutout.

Gandalf's Castle.
Marcus is going to kill me for forgetting this hotel's name.

Mao Si Tong hat.
You will be seeing more pictures like this, just because he barely has any pictures.

We then headed up to this hill, forgot it's name already. Wah I really should bring a notebook with me too wherever I visit next time. Sorry Wei Hehn, if you're looking at this as a guide to Edinburgh, but I'm sure you won't miss this, it's huge =) make sure you go, the best place in Edinburgh to take photos.

BRING a tripod! I will never come for a trip without one now. My camera was on a stone.

On top of the world. Gay.

and I have no idea what they call these pillars.

Again, my camera was on the floor, like this:

Again, tripods are essential. -.-"
(picture from marcus' Blackberry)

and again, just because he has no photos on ordinary days.

The place was frigging cold, since it was at a higher altitude. My camera DIED on me at the best place to take pics in Edinburgh, what the hell right. As long as it didn't die on me in Old Trafford. Lucky for us, we have Marcus' & Nicholas' Blackberry and Keng's iPhone. XD These are from Marcus' Blackberry:

I like this picture.

Yes, that's Marcus.

Only because my b*tch asked me to.

Everyday, we are coming up of more ways to abuse ladies. More like abusing See Ki.

We made our way down after like 2-3hours fooling around up there. Had dinner at this place called The Filling Station. Basically it's pub food, equivalent to our Mamak food back in malaysia.

The Filling Station

Keng's ribs. RIBS. Omg.

Marcus' Hamburger.

See Ki's Pizza. Nice blend of colors picture-wise!

My Haggis. Keng said that Haggis is a type of animal only found in Scotland. Keng told me it was an animal found only in Scotland. When it DID come, he said the whole point is to trick a friend on the table to order it, so everyone can try a bit, and then reveal that:

Haggis is a dish containing sheep's 'pluck' (heart, liver and lungs), minced with onion, oatmeal, suet, spices, and salt, mixed with stock, and traditionally boiled in the animal's stomach for approximately three hours.
(courtesy of Wikipedia)

The table.
L-R: Nicholas, Marcus, Me, See Ki & Keng Seng

Scotland has those red telephone booths too! Keng Seng & Nicholas.

The City Restaurant. Supper, i.e. ice cream =)

Deep Fried Mars Bars. Urethritis anyone?

Overrated Banana Split.

Nicholas' explosive brownie.

Surgeon's Hall, on the way back home =)

Day 7 - London/Edinburgh

This post is a lil overdue-ed, so it feels kinda funny writing about it since the previous posts I typed it out that night itself, but I'll try nevertheless, lol.

You delete one, I take another one, Nyek!

Anyway, Ding brought us to have Pasty at the train station for breakfast, since we've been having bagel for breakfast the past few mornings. =)

The Pasty Shop

Nice.

Our train up to Edinburgh was at 1pm, I think? We were running from station to station because we were late, lol.

Waterloo Station. Heading towards Edinburgh Waverly =D

So this was goodbye London. More like, brb London, since we would be back within 4-5 days =) Million thankssss to Lim Ding Shyong for spending so much time and effort while we were with you. You were a great host! Enjoyed it to the max! The next time I'm there, KB would probably be hiding behind a wall ready to jump me as I enter. =S

How cool the train was. It has a powerplug, wireless and a table. Even better than MAS. =D

Was playing with the shuttle speed of my camera in the train while it was moving. So cool! Ray's book on photography was helpful. =D A very slow shuttle speed supposedly allows any light within the shuttle speed entering the shuttle be seen in the picture. Hence:

Taken with a high shuttle speed. The train was moving full speed btw.

Taken at a very slow shuttle speed. So pretty =)
(same as how people capture moving lights i.e. cars moving through a city)

Was watching house season 6 on the train since See Ki haven't watched it yet. Anyway, after the 5 hours long train ride, we finally reached Edinburgh Waverly! and guess who was waiting there for us..........

Marcus trying to scare See Ki, lol! Succeeded for a moment. So glad to see him!

And 8 minutes later.....

Nicholas arrived! Seeki and her host =)
(Don't say I never put nice pictures of u up)

Me and my host, Marcus!

As we made our way through the strong, cutting winds and the subzero temperature of Edinburgh, Marcus kindly dragged my 24kg luggage for 400m back to his flat. Assuming he's not a girl (how people say a girl's room is very sacred), I guess he wouldn't mind if I posted up a picture of how his room looks like.

Marcus' crib! Really cosy. I was sleeping on the floor, lol! With a sleeping bag though =)

The cappuccino Marcus kindly made me as a welcoming gift to his room. His coffee machine was awesome.

We settled down, and waited for dinner. Nicholas made reservations for us at this place called The Living Room, fine dining, which was really awesome because he managed to get us 40% discount =D Thanks Nicholas!

The Living Room. Ambience was awesome, but lighting was a little dim.

At first sight.

Our table!

Marcus, Keng, Me & Nicholas

The opposite side of the table
Li Yenn, Tze Yee, See Ki & Keng Seng
It was nice to finally see Li Yenn and Tze Yee too! It's been a while.

Just because it looks good =P

And, of course, our food! :

Nicholas' french onion soup

..and his Lamb!

See Ki's risotto.

Hor Tze Yee's salmon.

Li Yenn's mussels.

...and my boring fish and chips. Keng and Marcus had the same =)

My unhealthy fries! just cause it looked nice, lol.

They brought us to this spot just for this picture. Lol. Interesting.

Yeap! Hopefully I can update tomorrow or something, since I will be back in London already. Ding & KB, here I come! Frigging pick me up from the train station!

Vanessa has a memory card reader, finally able to upload photos! Lol. But I just woke up,and we're going down for breakfast, waiting for See Ki to get ready, she's been in the toilet for quite a while already, so I guess I'll update tonight or something after we get back...................from OLD TRAFFORD!! Camera, DON'T die on me today, I will kill you.

Anyway, I'm in Preston, Manchester, now, house of Vanessa, Yee Lin and Kheng Xhiong, state of Jonathan, Dominique and Daniel, lol! Will try to see you guys. Edinburgh was fun. THANKS a lot marcus, for letting me bunk in your cozy room, for the breakfasts and skipped class, and you & Keng for sending us off and helping us with our luggages. Really appreciate it, thanks! Hospitality was awesome =) and Nicholas for spending so much time with us!I'm sure Vanessa will do an equally good job ;) Hahhaa funny that I'm typing this and she's just on the phone 5 feet away from me.

Okay, my turn to wash up now, till tonight or something!

=)

It's supposed to be day 7 in Edinburgh already, but I don't have a SD memory card reader with me now (I used Ding Shyong's in London), so technically, no photos available till I get back to London or Malaysia, provided Vanessa has one in Manchester! =D So..... updates later la hor, lol.

Anyway Edinburgh have been really fun! London was awesome too, both fun in different ways =) I would like to take this opportunity to thanks Lim Ding Shyong for his aweome hospitality while I was in London. He literally brought us around almost the whole of central London whilst having courseworks and assignments to hand in the very next day. And let us dump our excess luggages at his place while we're in Edinburgh and Manchester somemore. How to find such good friends like this? Thanks ham sup! Will do the same for u if u visit Malaysia ;) LOL!

Will update once I find a way to transfer my pictures! For now, I'll just enjoy Edinburgh.. =)
